Ever Dreamed of Owning Your Own Horse? As your skills advance and your interest peaks, you may take advantage of the opportunity to lease a horse of your own. If you are an intermediate or advanced level student who is riding regularly in our group riding lessons, you may lease A Lazy J Ranch owned horse. The horse leasing and showing program allows you to work with your leased horse in pleasure riding, local shows, clinics and recreational rides.
While in the horse leasing program, you can continue weekly lessons with the added benefit of lease rides and competition on your leased horse. This program is designed for students who are able to ride independently, at the walk, trot and canter, and able to tack up on their own. Lease options are a great way for riders considering buying a horse to gain practical ownership experience without taking on all the costs associated with the purchase and care of a horse. Horse leasing also provides the novice the opportunity to accelerate their skills, confidence, and experience that horse ownership requires without many of the upkeep costs involved. For example, Lazy J Ranch assumes costs for training, insurance, farrier, and vet services and will provide the means for you to get experience at local shows competitions and clinics.
Lease of Lesson Horses
1/2 Lease Option

$600/Month - Shared use of one Lazy J Ranch lesson horse

Includes 8 Unsupervised - 1 HR rides/month

Use of Leased Horse for 2 local shows or clinics /season (opportunity to attend additional shows for an additional fee). Lessee must arrange for trailer transportation to and from shows/clinics not included in lease.

Lessee must schedule ride times on the portal not to interfere with lesson horse use and facility schedule.
Full Care Lease

$1100.00/Month - Exclusive use of one Lazy J Ranch, Lessee fully responsible for leased horse’s care and supplies including Hay (can be purchased from Barn), grain, supplements, shavings, vet, farrier, dentist, chiropractor, massage, Bemer etc.

$550.00 / Month Rough-Co Op Board - Lessee responsible for daily care and maintenance for horse including, mucking stall, mucking paddock, clean waters, grooming, and other daily upkeep. A community schedule will be available to reduce the number of shifts/day by coordinating with other Lessees & Hired Barn Staff.

Horses Available for 1/4, 1/2 & 3/4 Lease
BO
Bo 11 yr. old 14.2 h Fjord Gelding and available for on farm 1/4 or 1/2 lease to an Intermediate or Advanced Rider looking for a project horse ready to learn and work. He requires a confident and fair rider. Although 14.2 h he takes up a lot of leg. He is very smart and could be a great dressage prospect with the right partner, he has done light jumps, and has been ridden western and trail rides too. He drives single and as a team. He made his debut in the show ring in 2022 and has undergone 90 days of refresher driving + training under saddle and is currently being used for light lessons. Bo is ready to get serious about working and learning and needs a solid partner. He is a beautiful mover when asked and solid under saddle. He will go out alone with encouragement and keeps a level head. I would prefer someone who is confident + comfortable with groundwork, enjoys working with an opinionated horse and looking to start a long-term partnership with him. He has great potential and comes with a great team of barn support and encouragement.
MELENA
Melena is 16 yr. old 14.3 h Friesian/Fjord Grade Mare available for an on farm 1/4 lease to an Advanced Rider. Melena is a , she requires a confident experienced rider. Melena is a very versatile horse; she has successfully received scores in 1st level rated dressage tests after only having 3 months of dressage training. She has also successfully competed in training level dressage, 2 phase event and hunter classes. She has carried the flag in an opening ceremony for the Billings rodeo in Montana and has skills in western discipline. She was also introduced to driving last winter. She is very smart and could excel in dressage with the right partner. This horse can do it all with a confident and skilled rider. Melena turns heads pretty much everywhere she goes; she is a beauty and a beautiful mover. Melena needs consistent work, needs someone who is confident with experience and dedication to her training, she is very strong and can be forward. I am looking for the perfect person to take her to the next level who is looking to start a long-term partnership with this beautiful mare. Melena will come with a team of barn support and encouragement, a group that will support you at shows and help you achieve your goals, a group that will become your family.
LUKE
Luke is 14 yr. old 14.2 h Fjord Gelding available for an on farm 1/4 lease to Beginner or Intermediate Rider. If you are looking for a horse you can learn on Luke is your guys. He is a been there done that kind of horse. He is great under saddle but challenges his riders helping them to learn and advance their skill set. He is great for beginners but very willing and able to work with intermediate riders. Luke is a great teacher, although only 14.2h he is strong, and nicely balanced. Luke goes english both hunt seat and dressage, he also enjoys jumping. In addition Luke goes western and drives as a single or double. He is great bareback and loves trail riding when not doing ring work. Luke comes with a great team of barn support and encouragement.
Stretch
Stretch is an 18 yr old 16 h Morgan and available for an on farm 1/4 lease. Stretch is very in tune and connected with his riders skill set. He is best paired with an Intermediate or Advanced Rider as he likes to go fast. He does wonderful on the lunge line and enjoys working in our EAL and therapy programs. He really enjoys jumping but goes well hunt seat, western and trail riding and has history in Saddle Seat. Stretch comes with a great team of barn support and encouragement.
