Youth Empowerment
Helping Youth Build an Armor of Skills
Imagine What The Future Would Look Like If We Prepared
Youth With Skills For Life?
It can be difficult for youth to navigate the challenges and obstacles of their lives. Let's help our youth at risk to build an armour of skills so they know how to protect themselves and move forward with all that life throws at them and have self-awareness about their own behavior through the powerful teacher, the horse.
These experiential programs for youth are not only educational and evidence based, but have been designed for youth to acquire strength-based life skills (i.e., developmental assets) such as effective communication, enhanced problem-solving, a better understanding of body language, respecting personal boundaries, among others - with long lasting results.

They will build an armour of skills with confidence and self esteem, to prepare them for the future & for future successes! The skills they’ll learn are self awareness, leadership & teamwork! As well as, experiences to pull from when they are faced with choices in everyday life.
Preparing Youth To Take On The Challenges Life Throws At Them.
The value of working with horses as a teaching tool to learn new skills have been proven time and time again in the teaching of young people and especially teenagers. The use of an equine assisted learning program is a unique way to teach young people who are fortunate to participate in the Lazy J Ranch's Interactive Development Program.
Horses understand how to differentiate between potentially threatening behaviour and a calm and assertive nature. Youth who have the chance to work with our horses are able to learn how to modify their behavior through sets of exercises that will remain with them for the rest of their lives. This type of teaching cannot be delivered in a classroom. It is the experience of being in close contact with horses that has the most effect on young people, as it gives the youths an experience to pull from when they are faced with choices in everyday life as they build strong solid skills working with their teacher.
Our programs will have healthy and positive impacts on our youth, helping with mental wellbeing, social wellbeing and positive changes in behavior.
What Can These Skills Programs Do For Our
Youth At Risk?
One of the many bonuses of working with horses vs a classroom setting is the component of interactivity because we all learn differently, but we can all take away lessons that we learn through our experiences. Each of our exercises is custom designed to maximize learning potential and focus on developing individual skills as they work through each fun interactive group challenges.
Our skills for life programs for youth at risk are designed to allow help youth retain and utilize life skills in an interactive environment. Our horses are 1200 lb teachers, which allow participants to have an experience that they will never forget. Youth face growing challenges every day, and our program offers the opportunity to assist them in becoming leaders, making choices, as well as building confidence and self-esteem. Our youth programs run for 8-weeks. This time frame allows participants to solidify the skills learned in a usable way, as well as track the advancements in each of the youth within it.
